Processor of MacBook Air 2017
Right off the bat lets see what Apple has done with the processor of the New MacBook Air 20017. Apple kick off its new version of MacBook Air this year which received some minor changes like the 2017 model’s Intel Core i5 processor got a small speed bump from 1.6GHz to 1.8GHz. What hasn’t changed is the actual processor inside, Macbook Air still runs on Intel’s fifth gen core processor where as most macbooks and windows laptops are running on seventh gen these days. On the other hand MacBook Pro models uses “Skylake” and most up-to-date “Kaby Lake” processors, which provide the fastest speeds , is stronger, and more efficient with battery life than what the MacBook Air is using. Macbook Pro line ranges from 2.3GHz to 3.6GHz chip speeds.
Storage (SSD) of Apple MacBook Air
That being said, If someone needs a computer for general web browsing and light use, a slow processor low storage space ,don’t care about having an extremely high resolution screen, Air should suffice anyone who isn't at the bleeding edge of tech. Currently Apple is offering two different storage options for the MacBook Air 2017, 128GB & 256GB - both of them are PCLe Based SSD.

MacBook Air 13 inch Display
With the slight processor boost, the MacBook Air is still basically a laptop from 2015 with a design from 2010. The 2017 Macbook air has a resolution of 1440x900, meaning it's not sharp enough and doesn't leave much room to have multiple windows onscreen. Macbook Air line uses a TN panel and doesn’t have the p3 colour gamma either which makes the viewing angles terrible. It’s not as crisp and smooth as the Retina screen which is found on the MacBook Pro models. The design is also dated. There are much richer looking, slimmer and lighter laptops in these price range now a days

Also there are no USB-C ports, it has the good old ports. And It’s still available in just the one silvery colour, unlike the 12in MacBook (Silver, Space Grey, Gold, or Rose Gold)
How to Decide?
Apple hasn’t changed the Air much at all since it wowed the laptop world in 2010 with its sharp, wedge-shaped case – which still looks great but buying a laptop is a hefty investment. Air is not the laptop for someone who thinks about future investment as it wont be capable over time given that the tech world is advancing so fast.
More importantly, MacbookAir is the cheapest notebook in Apple’s lineup which starts below $1000 and for the price it takes there are laptops in the Macbook pro line which serves the quality when features, performance, battery life and more compared.

All told, the MacBook Air was a very popular product and still does plenty right. It’s a general-consumer laptop for a remarkably long time. It's well-built; with decent keyboard and has the fantastic Apple-made trackpad. But then again why would anyone go for Air (top Air from the Macbook Air line costs $1300) when adding few more bucks could get them incredibly thin light laptop with wide color display, butterfly mechanism keyboard, better speakers, advanced Kaby Lake graphics, and a whole lot more? Not worth it.
Value-
If affordability is not an issue, MacBook Pro is the laptop which serves value for money. It comes with the latest Kaby Lake processors, insanely fast hard drive with up to 2TB of storage and fast RAM, an all-aluminum body, a larger Force Touch trackpad. If you are looking at Windows OS, there is a humongous list of options to choose from.
If you can't scrounge up the cash to buy a MacBook or MacBook Pro, consider an HP Spectre x360 or Lenovo Yoga 910 instead.
Choose wisely.
